Bahrain Specialist Hospital, Bahrain
Care IQ created strategic sketches outlines the Bahrain Specialist Hospital’s (BSH) plan to create a top-notch cardiac interventions department at their Juffair location. The project involved remodelling a 1200 m2 area on the first floor. Integrated Health Solutions (IHS) and Care IQ were initially consulted to assess the feasibility of a ground floor location, but the project focus shifted to the first floor later. IHS and Care IQ proposed preparatory architectural designs to initiate the renovation, which was planned to encompass construction phasing, equipment procurement, and IT integration, all while ensuring continuous operation of other hospital departments.
Bahrain Specialist Hospital (BSH) in Manama, Bahrain, is a leading private hospital renowned for its specialised cardiac and surgical services.
Key points:
BSH aimed to establish a large-detector lab capable of performing 400-500 PCIs annually, with room for expansion to electrophysiology and potential hybrid operating theatre capabilities. The design had to accommodate both emergency and elective cases, requiring easy access from the emergency department and dedicated on-call spaces. Sufficient space was needed for clinics, cardiac diagnostics, and patient preparation/recovery near the interventions room, with a nursing station and telemetry. Same-day discharge was planned, necessitating extended recovery area capacity.
